A beautiful if worn example of a Victorian beadwork footstool. This small, round footstool has a timeworn appeal.
Victorian footstools of this type were cherished items, hand decorated and made to demonstrate the owner's skill and craftsmanship. They were used in grander Victorian homes to keep delicate feet off cold stone floors! This pretty stool is made from a wool tapestry with charming hand finished beadwork decoration in foliate patterns. The upholstered pad is fitted into a circular oak frame with a mahogany or rosewood veneer. The stool sits on three original bun feet. The stool is in a 'shabby chic' condition. There is wear to the tapestry cover and losses to the beadwork in places. None of this age-related wear detracts from the antique appeal of the piece. There are some losses to the veneer around the edge of the frame. Please check photos carefully to ensure you are happy with the vintage condition.
This stool dates from the mid 19th century . It is lower than modern footstools but still comfy to rest your feet on. It is sturdy and well made despite the surface wear.
The footstool is a great styling piece or perhaps a prop. This footstool is perfect for putting your feet up on a Sunday afternoon (or any afternoon) - petite perfection.
