Pair of Lacquered Hand Decorated Japanese Wall Hangings
A pair of stunning Japanese wall panels depicting figures and landscapes. Made in the late 19th to early 20th century these panels are hand decorated against a black lacquered finish.
The oval framed panels are beautifully hand crafted to create scenes of figures on a shore side with buildings, trees and distant mountains. One panel shows a female figure being pulled in a rickshaw. The other panel shows a woman being carried in a sedan chair. The decoration has been created with shell and mother of pearl inlay, embellished with gilt details. The deep red frames are prettily decorated with tiny flowers and leaves. Each panel is strung with cord, ready to hang. The panels are in great condition with just a little scuffing and a couple of chips to the frame’s edges. Please look at all the photos carefully to ensure you are aware of the condition.
Each panel measures 40cm high x 27cm wide.
With their sumptuous decoration, these fabulous wall panels would make a bold statement hanging anywhere in your home. A wonderful and stylish addition to any interior.
