Royal Worcester Limited Edition Plate

£35.00

A gorgeous plate by Royal Worcester from The Birds of Dorothy Doughty series. From 1974, the plate is decorated with two blue-grey gnatcatchers.

The plate has a scalloped edge finished in 22kt gold. The birds are in low relief and coloured in a hand painted matt glaze. Dorothy Doughty was an English ornithologist and sculptor who produced remarkable naturalistic sculptures of birds. She was commissioned by Royal Worcester to produce a limited edition series of dessert plates. She adapted her sculptures into a flat relief design to be applied to the plates at the Royal Worcester factory. The result is the most beautiful work of art on a plate. The two superbly modelled and painted birds in flight are chasing a group of three gnats. The plate is in pristine condition. All the details of the artist's name, manufacturer, title and date are shown on the reverse of the plate. Please look at all the photographs to ensure you are satisfied with the condition.

The plate measures 23cm diameter.

This beautiful plate is made for display and would look fabulous on a plate stand, plate wall or in a cabinet. A great piece for bird enthusiasts and collectors of Royal Worcester fine bone china.
