This is a lovely vintage print of two Bullfinches originally by Winifred Austen (1876-1964). This framed print is entitled “A Word in your Ear”.
Winifred Austen was a renowned British artist who specialised in depictions of small animals and birds. The original of this print was in pencil and watercolour and sold at Christie’s auction house for £1,725 in 1997. This print is possibly from the 1920/30’s judging by the framing. The print was framed in Aberdeen and is strung and ready to hang. The paper of the print has some browning around the edges particularly at the bottom. There is a tiny chip to the glass in the top left hand corner. The colours of the print are still true and it is a remarkable piece of work. The 1930’s style frame is gorgeous too. Please check all photos carefully to ensure that you are happy with the vintage condition.
This gorgeous print would be great on a gallery wall or in a bedroom or bathroom. Fab cottage core decor! A lovely looking piece. One for bird lovers for sure.
