A fabulous hand painted bowl of Castelli Pottery from Italy. This large bowl has striking landscape decoration and a fluted edge.
The bowl is painted in a style typical of the region. Castelli is a hillside town in Italy and Castelli ceramics are a bright colourful type of pottery using five main colours. The pottery features flowers, plants, landscapes etc. This example is fabulously hand painted with an Italian landscape of a lake, tress and mountains with castle like buildings in the mid ground. The painting style is lively, with gestural brush marks clearly showing the hand of the artist. The bowl is also decorated on the outside with sumptuous floral motifs in blues and greens covering the entire surface.
The painting on the inside of the bowl bears the signature of the artist. This is a large, heavy bowl which is beautifully glazed and is in great condition inside and out. Please look at all the photos to ensure you are aware of the condition.
