Spanish Majolica Bowl: Hand Painted Folk Art Deer Design
A fabulous hand painted majolica bowl from Puente del Arzobispo in Spain. This large bowl has striking, colourful decoration and two chunky handles.
The bowl is painted in a folk art style typical of the region. The hand coloured decoration features a deer painted with exaggerated form giving it great character and appeal. The artist has used a limited colour palette with orange tones for the deer and green for the stylised landscape. The green colouring extends to the rim and handles. There is an orange band painted on the outside of the bowl. Underneath, the bowl bears the initials of the artist. This is a large, heavy bowl which is beautifully glazed and is in great condition inside and out. Please look at all the photos to ensure you are aware of the condition.
The bowl measures 27cm diameter x 6.5cm deep.
A stunning decorative piece of Spanish majolica, this large bowl deserves to be seen. It would be lovely in use and would make a great centre piece for a table setting.
