Chinoiserie Lacquered Victorian Glove Box

A beautifully decorated Victorian glove box dating from the 1880s. This lacquered box is hand finished with a chinoiserie motif typical of the aesthetic period of the late 19th century.

This elegant wooden glove box is black lacquered and prettily decorated. The hand painted scene depicts a boat on water in the foreground with mountains receding into the distance. The picture is painted in dark browns and reds with detail picked out in gold. There is a small piece of mother of pearl inlay. The long slim box has a hinged lid and lock, though there is no longer a key. The box is in lovely condition for its age with just a couple of chips to the lacquered surface. please look at all the photos to ensure you are aware of the condition.
